![]() For the best, follow the recommended parameters by the manufacturer of filler metal for the particular diameter of welding wire. To avert worm tracking (also, marks on the weld bead’s surface as a consequence of gas created by the flux in the wire core), avoid immoderate voltage for the wire feed setting as well as amperage. Generally, the wire shouldn’t extend more than 1 ¼ inch beyond contact tip. After that, maintain a proper electrode stick-out or extension. Still, those products can’t replace appropriate pre-cleaning. You can also use filler metals with added de-oxidizers to prevent contaminated welds. For preventing porosity in welding, get rid of any grease, rust, oil, paint, coatings, dirt and moisture from the base metal before you weld. Porosity occurs when gas is trapped in the weld metal, and can appear along its full length or at any particular point of the weld. ![]() ![]()

Dissecting the model scheme further and using the Ryzen 9 8945HS as an example, the 8 signifies a 2024 model, with the 9 indicating a Ryzen 9 part. In contrast, the U series is designed more for ultra-thin and lower-powered notebooks at just 30 W at the top end of the power spectrum. The main difference between the two families is the TDP, with the HS series acting as the mid-range chips with sufficient power to deliver processing power in various workloads. With three classes of new Ryzen Mobile 8000 series SKUs, we have two primary product types: the HS (between 35-54W TDP) and the U (15-30W) series. AMD Ryzen Mobile Product Number Decoder (2023- 2025) Keeping in line with the previous Ryzen Mobile 7000 series announcement in January, we can see AMD has kept within its naming structure. Just quickly recapping AMD's product number naming scheme for 2023 to 2025, it was announced at the beginning of the year, and as such, it is now in full swing. ![]() The Ryzen 8040HS and 8040U series look to further push the adoption of AI features with more on-chip Ryzen AI-enabled NPUs than the previous generation. While users did have to wait a considerable portion of the year before these SKUs hit retail via notebook partners, they delivered solid portable performance and efficiency, something which AMD's Zen 4 microarchitecture has delivered in desktop, mobile, server and, more recently, in the workstation space. AMD acquired Xilinix last year and looks set to use Xilinx IP again to bolster AMD's charge towards AI generation.ĭuring last year's CES 2023 trade show in Las Vegas, AMD announced their first Zen 4-based mobile SKUs, namely the Ryzen Mobile 7040 series. Another interesting element of AMD's Ryzen Mobile 8040 series is that they incorporate the Ryzen AI NPU, developed by Xilinx, into seven of the nine announced SKUs. This means AMD's Zen 4 core manufactured on TSMC's 4 nm process looks set to retake center stage in their notebook portfolio for at least the first half of next year. Ranging from 8C/16T down to an entry-level 4C/8T SKU, AMD's Ryzen Mobile 8040 series has nine SKUs on offer (at the time of writing) and is a direct refresh of the previous Phoenix 7040 series rather than a complete overhaul. Two new families of Ryzen Mobile chips have been announced, including the mid-ranged 8040HS APUs and the lower-powered 8040U series with a lower TDP designed for thin and light notebooks. Codenamed Hawk Point, the Ryzen Mobile 8040HS series is set to be the successor to this year's 'Phoenix' mobile chips. Although CES 2024 is happening next month in Las Vegas, AMD has lifted the lid on their latest Zen 4 mobile processors, the Ryzen Mobile 8040 series. ![]() Individuals can experience significant medical impairment as a result of consuming the nonfood items. Cultural factors (some groups in the US and Africa are known to eat clay).Children may also turn to pica as a source of comfort in traumatic, neglectful or stressful situations. Lack of supervision in some families can lead to children consuming nonfood items. The individual suffering from pica is more driven by compulsions, such as in OCD. Pica is different from other eating disorders such as anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa in that it is not related to a disturbance of body image or a desire to become thin. While this practice can still lead to medical complications, it is not considered to be an eating disorder under those circumstances 3 Ingestion of dirt or clay may be considered culturally acceptable in some areas. It is unclear, though, whether the lack of nutrients led to the consumption of clay, for instance, or whether eating nonfood items caused nutritional deficits. One potential reason that individuals consume nonfood items is that they suffer from a nutritional deficiency such as a low level of iron, zinc, or calcium. 3 There are both psychosocial and biochemical causes. There are many hypotheses regarding the causes of pica, but no firm data supports these theories. The unborn baby and mother can be endangered, depending upon the items eaten. Pregnant women tend to chew on ice a great deal during pregnancy, but they can also consume much of the same items that children eat during episodes of pica. This is not the same as children who suck on their hair as a self-soothing technique or chew on pencils out of boredom in the classroom. This can result in nutritional deficits from lack of actual food, medical issues from intestinal blockages, or even more severe complications, depending upon the items ingested. Young children ingest all kinds of nonfood items like paper, dirt, glue, erasers, cloth, chalk, and hair. 4Among those with intellectual disabilities, it is most common between the ages of 10-20 years. 3It is also seen in other populations, such as those with intellectual disabilities, autism, OCD, trichotillomania (hair pulling), and schizophrenia. 2 Although pica occurs equally in female and male children, it is rare to see pica in adolescent and adult males. ![]() Pica is most common among pregnant women and young children. ESO's Extremely Large Telescope, a 39-metre telescope under construction in the Chilean Atacama Desert, will be one of the few telescopes able to study the source galaxies of bursts even further away than FRB 20220610A. ![]() The international Square Kilometre Array Observatory is currently building two radio telescopes in South Africa and Australia that will be capable of finding thousands of FRBs, including very distant ones that cannot be detected with current facilities. The result represents the limit of what is achievable with telescopes today, although astronomers will soon have the tools to detect even older and more distant bursts, pin down their source galaxies and measure the Universe's missing matter. "While we still don't know what causes these massive bursts of energy, the paper confirms that fast radio bursts are common events in the cosmos and that we will be able to use them to detect matter between galaxies, and better understand the structure of the Universe," says Shannon. Our measurements confirm the Macquart relation holds out to beyond half the known Universe," says Ryder. Some recent fast radio bursts appeared to break this relationship. This is now known as the Macquart relation. "J-P showed that the further away a fast radio burst is, the more diffuse gas it reveals between the galaxies. Even in space that is nearly perfectly empty they can 'see' all the electrons, and that allows us to measure how much stuff is between the galaxies," Shannon says.įinding distant FRBs is key to accurately measuring the Universe's missing matter, as shown by the late Australian astronomer Jean-Pierre ('J-P') Macquart in 2020. "Fast radio bursts sense this ionised material. "We think that the missing matter is hiding in the space between galaxies, but it may just be so hot and diffuse that it's impossible to see using normal techniques." "If we count up the amount of normal matter in the Universe - the atoms that we are all made of - we find that more than half of what should be there today is missing," says Ryan Shannon, a professor at the Swinburne University of Technology in Australia, who also co-led the study. The discovery confirms that FRBs can be used to measure the 'missing' matter between galaxies, providing a new way to 'weigh' the Universe.Ĭurrent methods of estimating the mass of the Universe are giving conflicting answers and challenging the standard model of cosmology. "Then we used in Chile to search for the source galaxy, finding it to be older and further away than any other FRB source found to date and likely within a small group of merging galaxies." ![]() "Using ASKAP's array of dishes, we were able to determine precisely where the burst came from," says Stuart Ryder, an astronomer from Macquarie University in Australia and the co-lead author of the study published today in Science.
